In 1931 Rolls Royce purchased the Bentley firm for £140,000, and as there was unfortunately a bad recession in England that year, the company decided against giving a Christmas present to its Managing Directors. In 1927, and for the next three years four more pieces were sent out, a Clock in 1927, a Cigarette Box in 1928, a Blotter in 1929 and a Sweetmeat Dish in 1930.
